I believe, "The practice of equality is for a
socialist - not an injunction to be obeyed but an instinct, a second nature
that cannot bear to be repressed".
We are interested in things- big
and small. We have ideas, intentions, and involvements. They make personal and
social relationships necessary and help us to form those judgments which guide
us through the labyriths of life.
Most of us are satisfied with pressing
forward and do not stop to ask ourselves fundamental questions or even to
examine our own judgments. But some do stop and ask and examine. Our first
reaction is a resentment of some kind. Why should anyone disturb the smooth
flow of life? Why should anyone ask us to accept fresh responsibilities when
the existing burdens are about as much as we can bear ? why should anyone
create situations for which our experience has not prepared us and which demand
the exercise of aptitudes which we may not possess ?
In other words, society tends to frown on
those who desire change in any form. Because of this frown, some who desire
change get frightened, some develop mild or serious symptoms of contrariness,
and some become spiteful or cynical.
I believe, There are courageous
persons who follow the urge of their hearts or minds and ultimately convince
society that they are in the right; there are dominating (positive sense) personalities which
compel society to accept and follow them.
There are also persons, seen but very
rarely, who return society’s frown with a cheerful, disarming smile and who
radiate sincerity, goodwill and confidence. They have the gift of making
friends and of transforming friendship into an inspiring and creative force.
They do not desire power; they are loath to exercise authority even if they
possess it. Their aim and ideal is to make men more humane, more just, more
co-operative, to arouse and activate sentiments of natural piety. Innate in
most human beings, to reform society by including the most sensitive
individuals to assert the best in them so as to achieve happiness and peace for
all.
We have to be one of this rare type, and the whole world may well be proud
of us..
We should hate ugliness and
cruelty, and that is why we are a socialist. Socialism is also based on
aesthetic and ethical premises and not only on economics.
To my knowledge and belief, A socialist possesses a
generosity like the generosity of the river, a benevolence like the benevolence
of the sun, a hospitality like the hospitality of the earth.. He answers the
call of those in distress, he fulfills the needs of the helpless, his sorrows
and endeavours are derived from the sorrows and endeavours of the people, he
lives among them, bears all the hardships this association brings with it and
repays those who to harm to him with generosity and self – sacrifice. A
socialist cultivates friendship, because it is ain friendship that the true
relationship between man and God is revealed, and to be a good friend he
cultivates these social qualities which are most pleasing to everyone.
Warm Regards.
